About The Third Journey

Authors William R Storie & Robin Trimingham have redefined what it is to be an older adult in the modern age in their new book, The Third Journey – Making the Most of Your Life After Work (published by iUniverse).

Following childhood and adulthood, the Olderhood phase of life is not actually about “retirement” at all. It is about challenging traditional boundaries, conquering old fears, staying positive and finding a meaningful purpose to carry you through the rest of your life.

“This book is the first-aid manual for repairing the consequences and obstacles of later life,” Storie says. “The Third Journey provides practical information for any life situation whether you are planning for, transitioning into, or already in retirement. It’s not enough to simply have a financial plan; today’s retiree needs a broad-based lifestyle plan to thrive in the third phase of their life.”

“The Third Journey is based on real research and interaction with retired people of all walks of life around the world,” says Trimingham. “We offer frank discussion on the topics older people secretly struggle with most including: loneliness, boredom, fear of change, mortality, longevity, finances, elder abuse, sexuality and managing long-term relationships.
